Arbor Day Crafts

Paper Evergreen Tree

National Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday in April (but the date varies in some US states). This US holiday encourages tree planting and tree care. Arbor Day was begun by J. Sterling Morton (editor of the Nebraska City News) in Nebraska in 1872. The idea of a holiday celebrating the planting of trees for fruit, shelter, shade, beauty, soil conservation, and fuel soon spread to other US states.

These crafts projects use materials found around the house, like egg cartons, cardboard, paper, boxes, string, crayons, paint, glue, etc. See a page about color mixing to see how to combine paint to make all the colors of the rainbow.

Click on any of the crafts to go to the instructions. Have fun!
