This hound was bred for coursing (hunting by sight, not by smell) hares in Great Britain, but originated thousands of years ago from Middle Eastern breeding stock. There are pictures of these dogs on ancient Egyptian tombs.
Anatomy: The Greyhound is a lean, long-legged dog that is about 27 to 30 inches (69-76 cm) tall at the shoulders; it weighs about 60 to 70 pounds (27-32 kg). It has a large lung capacity, compact feet, a long muzzle, a long flat skull, wing-like ears, and large oval eyes.
