NAME: Meaning - Pelorosaurus means "monstrous lizard"

SIZE: Length - Roughly 80 ft (24 m) long

WHEN IT LIVED: Early Cretaceous period, about 138-112 million years ago
WHERE IT LIVED: Fossils have been found in the Wealden Formation in England and perhaps in Ferveneca, Portugal, both in Europe.
FOSSILS: Only a few bones have been found, including neck and back vertebrae, an arm bone, some hip bones, and some partial hind leg bones. Skin impressions with hexagonal (six-sided) plates (9-26 mm across) have also been found.

  • Phylum Chordata (having a hollow nerve chord ending in a brain)
  • Class Archosauria (diapsids with socket-set teeth, etc.)

INTERESTING
FACTS:
Pelorosaurus was an armored, plant-eating dinosaur with a long neck, a long tail, a small head and a bulky body. So little is known about Pelorosaurus that it is a dubious genus (a nomen dubium).
