| Beluga whale | 2-25 | A pod will hunt and migrate as a group. |
| Bottlenose dolphin | 12 | Often, many pods group together to form congregations of hundreds of dolphins. |

| Fin whale | 6-10 | More gregarious than other baleen whales. |
| Gray whale | 1-3 | Up to 16 may travel together. They do not form long-term bonds. |
| Humpback whale | 10+ | Large, loose, temporary groups. Bubble-net feeding is a group hunting activity. |
| Minke whale | 2-3 | Larger groups may form on feeding grounds. |
| Right whale | Long-term bonds only between mother and calf. | |
| Sei whales | 3-5 | Pods segregated by sex, age, and reproductive status. |
