Adirondack Mountains - A chain of mountains located in northeastern New York state.
Albany - The capital city of New York state; it is located in east central New York.
Atlantic Ocean - the ocean that borders New York state to the southeast.
Buffalo - a snowy city located in the far west of New York state, off Lake Erie.
Canada - the country that borders New York state to the north and northwest (mark it on the map twice).
Catskill Mountains - A chain of mountains located in southeastern New York state.
Connecticut - a US state that is southeast of New York state and south of Massachusetts.
Finger Lakes Region - an area of western central New York that has many beautiful lakes. It is located roughly south of Rochester.
Hudson River - a river that flows through eastern New York state, from the Adirondack Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean.
Lake Champlain - A large lake on the northern part of the border between New York and Vermont.
Lake Erie - one of the Great Lakes; it is west of New York state and southwest of Lake Ontario.
Lake Ontario - one of the Great Lakes; it is northeast of Lake Erie.
Long Island - a long island in the Atlantic Ocean off the southeast tip of continental New York state.
Massachusetts - a US state located east of New York state, north of Connecticut and south of Vermont and New Hampshire.
Mt. Marcy - the tallest peak in New York state; it is located in the Adirondack Mountains in the northern part of the state.
New Jersey - a US state located south of eastern New York state and east of Pennsylvania.
New York City - The largest city in New York state; it is in southeastern New York.
Pennsylvania - a US state located south of much of New York state and west of New Jersey.
Rochester - a city located in western New York state; it is located between Buffalo and Syracuse, and is near Lake Ontario.
Syracuse - a city located in central New York state; it is west of Albany and southeast of Rochester.
Vermont - a US state located east of northern New York state and north of Massachusetts.
