George W. Bush
Presidents of the USA

George Walker Bush (July 6, 1946 - ) became the 43rd President of the United States of America on January 20, 2001 and was re-elected in 2004 for a second term; his Vice-President was Richard Cheney. Bush and Cheney are Republicans.

George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut, but grew up in Texas.

Bush earned a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Business School. After graduation, he joined the Texas Air National Guard and was an F-102 pilot. Before entering politics, he had a career in the oil and gas business.

Bush was the governor of Texas from Jan. 17, 1995 until Dec. 21, 2000. In 1977, Bush married Laura Welch (1946- ), a former teacher and librarian who grew up in Midland, Texas. The couple have fraternal twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna, who were born on November 25, 1981.

George W. Bush's father, George Bush (June 12, 1924 - ) was the 41st President of the United States of America, serving from 1989 until 1993.
