Beaker from Susa
The coloring page above is based on a painted ceramic vessel from Susa, Iran. This neolithic clay beaker dates from about 5000-4000 BC. Cone-shaped, it was made from coils of clay and is 11 1/4 inches (28.6 cm) tall. It depicts an ibex (a type of wild goat with long horns) with huge horns. Along the top are a row of wading birds with very elongated necks.
