James A. Lovell, Jr., is a modern-day adventurer. As an astronaut, he flew on four space missions, including the first rendezvous of two manned spacecraft, the first manned flight orbiting the Moon, and the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission to the Moon. Since the end of the Apollo program, Lovell has continued exploring, journeying to both the North Pole and the South Pole.
