The Cocker Spaniel was originally bred hundreds of years ago in Spain as a bird-hunting dog. It resulted from a cross of spaniels and setters.
Anatomy: The American Cocker Spaniel is from 14 to 15 inches (35-38 cm) tall at the shoulders and weighs from 26 to 34 pounds (12-16 kg). Males are slightly larger than females. The ears droop down and are covered with long, curly hair (they are feathered). The chest, abdomen and legs are also feathered.
