STP is shorthand for "standard temperature and pressure." Standard temperature is defined as the temperature 273.15 degrees K (0 degrees Celsius, the freezing point of pure water). Standard temperature is defined as 1 atmosphere of pressure, or the pressure exerted by a 760 mm high column of mercury Hg) or 1.01325 x 106 dynes per square cm, or approximately 14.7 pounds per square inch.
The volume and density (the mass per volume) of a gas are usually reported as the value at STP
