how did dinosaurs die
from george m, age 8, compton, ca, u.s.a; July 5, 2001
TOM: If you are asking "how did any dinosaur die?", dinosaurs, like all animals, could die from all sorts of problems: old age, sickness, accidents, starvation, drowning, being attacked by a meat eater, being killed by a defending plant eater, and so forth.
If you are asking "how did the dinosaurs become extinct?", many types of dinosaur became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous Period (65 million years ago). Climate changes caused by changing sea levels and supervolcanoes probably killed some of them, but the main culprit was probably the effects of an asteroid that hit the Earth in what is now the Yucatan Peninusla in Mexico. However, one group of dinosaurs survived the extinction, and lives today. We call these dinosaurs "birds".
