Pentaceratops did not have 5 horns, at least not in the sense that Triceratops has 3 horns. The namers were obviously thinking of the cheek projections, which almost all ceratopsians have anyways...so in essence Triceratops has 5 horns too, if you count the cheek projection as a horn.

***, that is the size of a collie. Overall, the length was 6 feet, but that's including a long, thin tail. Think weight, not length. And "feathers" isn't a good word to use because people get the image of flight feathers. Velociraptor did not have flight feathers--it didn't fly. Its "feathers" were more similar to fur, or "down."
from Chandler, age ?, ?, ?, ?; April 29, 2001

{***}, according to nearly every information source except Jurassic Park, velociraptor was 3 feet tall.
from JOE BOB B., age 10, Menlo Park, ?, ?; April 27, 2001

Guessing Dino weights is a tricky matter. Making a small mistake at the beginning will mean a big mistake later at your final answer. Thus weight estimates for dinosaurs range greatly. I liked the 15 ton estimate for T.Rex though...what was the person who came up with that figure thinking?
from Honkie Tong, age 16, ?, ?, ?; April 26, 2001

{ahem!} Velociraptor was really 4 feet tall and 6 feet long. it had FEATHERS not FUR!!!!! ummm sorry about that. i get hyper with raptors since i like them so much. i learned about Dinosaurs in the begining of second grade as a unit in science. what about telling your class Ultrasauros could get up to 100 feet long? {that's like 9 feet longer then a Brachiosaurus.} the author of my library book said that Pentaceratops had 5 horns. i of course didn't buy that for a second. cause where were the fourth and fifth horn anyway? the other two couldn't be found on the drawing of the skeleton or the painting. it can get up to 20 feet in length.
from {***}, age 8, i'm n ot telling, i'm not telling, i'm not telling; April 26, 2001

I learned about dinosaurs in 2nd grade!
What kind of ideas are you looking for? Basic information, fossils, lifestyle? It would be great to teach 2nd graders that Velociraptor was only the size of a collie and had fur!

from Chandler, age ?, ?, ?, ?; April 24, 2001

I am going to teach a 2nd grade class about dinosaurs. It will
it will be a science lesson. Any ideas???? Thanks

No a Spinosaurus could not kill a T.Rex. Why? Becasue they never met. Lets say that we ignore this fact and say that they did meet. Well, I suppose T.Rex would have easily beaten Spinosaurus anyday, being tougher, deadiler and probally faster than Spinosaurus. Forget anything you may have learnt from Jurassic Park 3.

Could Spinosaurus kill T-rex? Answer My Question Someone
from Ben C, age 14, Brinson, Ga, USA; April 21, 2001

Err, I don't want to start anything, but there is no such thing as proof.
from Honkie Tong, age 16, ?, ?, ?; April 18, 2001

Crichton made his Dilophosaurus spit poison because he thought that its jaws were too weak to kill prey with, so it must have used poison. Actually, Dilophosaurus has pretty strong and flexible jaws for catching small animals, it didn't need poison. I also thought that Iguanodon using his thumb spike for defense would be awkward...I always thought of it using it to help scrape off bark or something to eat, maybe.
from Chandler, age ?, ?, ?, ?; April 17, 2001

listen, we have no proof dinosaurs were bird. Ok we do have proof but you can't just say dinosaurs were bird.
from firebird, age ?, ?, ?, ?; April 17, 2001

ummm...can we stop talking about pioson spitting? oh and Dinosaurs WERE birds so if birds don't spit pioson dinosaurs might have NOT!!! oh sorry i'm about to be eaten by an Ornitholestes. {flies onto a branch}that's better! well it's true Archaeopteryx are Ornitholestes prey. small mammals and lizards too.
from Archaeopteryx, age 7, ?, ?, ?; April 16, 2001

If birds do not spit posion, it is very unlikely dinosaurs would do that. Why would they need to?
from Reuben B., age 8, Needham, MA, USA; April 16, 2001

It is very unlikly for Dilophosaurus wetherilli to have spit poison in its defense. Igunadon did have a thumb sike that it might have used to gash into the preditor's side or even the face. We can't know for sure.
from firebird, age ?, ?, ?, ?; April 14, 2001

can we please start a new topic besides spitting pioson and defense? we know all dinosaurs have some way of defense. i forgot to mention in my last post that Iguanodon had that thumb spike. but now let's tart a newer topic?
from Archaeopteryx, age 7, - - - - - -, - - - - - - - - - - -, - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -; April 11, 2001

why would Dinoaurs need to spit pioson? every dinosaur has some defense. Triceratopsians have horns. meat eaters have razor sharp teeth and raptors their huge claw on their second toe. some sauropods have really long tails they can use as whips or they can go in the water. Stegasaurs and Kentrosaurs have spikes on the end of their tail. Ankliosauriods have armor. Duckbills can swim and that's it i guess. my mom says they might've spit pioson but who would belive that? heh heh heh
from Archaeopteryx, age 7, ?, ?, ?; April 9, 2001

It's unlikely for dinosaurs to spit poision, and if any of them could, why Dilophosaurus? I don't see the reason why people think that Dilophosaurus COULD have been able to spit posion when other dinosaurs have the about the same odds as doing so. So why the focus on Dilophosaurus? Oh wait...it's just another JP myth.
from Honkie Tong, age 16, ?, ?, ?; April 9, 2001

Harrison(did i spell it right?), i don't think dinosaurs could spit pioson. though it'd be cool if they did...heh heh
from BlackWarGreymon, age 9, ?, ?, ?; April 8, 2001

yo i'm new...WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT!!?! if you need any info on a long neck (whoever asked that) i got a lotta info on diplodocus!
from BlackWarGreymon, age 9, Allamuchy, New Jersey, United states of America; April 8, 2001

In the movie Jurassic park Dilophosaurus had a huge fan pop out. In real life Dilophosaurus's neck muscles would not allow him to have this fan. But he could have spit poison but nobody knows.
