yaxis The yaxis is usually the vertical axis. 
ycoordinate The ycoordinate (also called the ordinate) is the vertical distance of a point from the origin. It is the second number in the ordered pair (x,y) representing a point. 
yintercept An yintercept is a point (0,y) at which a graph goes through (intersects) the yaxis. The yintercepts are the points on the graph at which x=0. 
yardstick A yardstick is three feet long (a yard); it is used for measuring things. 
year A year consists of 12 months, roughly 52 weeks, or about 365 days.
