Worksheets:
K-3 Shapes Theme Page Information, crafts, and coloring printouts for K-3 students. |
Shapes Simple, short books on shapes to print. |
Shapes Matching Printout Draw lines between the shapes and the words for the shapes. Or go to the answers. |
Shapes Printout Label a circle, oval, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, and octagon. Answers |
Regular Polygons Label the regular polygons (many-sided geometric figures with equal-length sides and equal angles), including a triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, and octagon. Answers |
Quadrilaterals Read about and do worksheets on quadrilaterals (four-sided figures), including the square, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, kite, and trapezoid. |
Triangles Read about and do worksheets on triangles, including equilateral, isosceles, scalene, right, acute, and obtuse triangles. |
Regular Polyhedra There are only five geometric solids that can be made using a regular polygon and having the same number of these polygons meet at each corner. The five Platonic solids (or regular polyhedra) are the tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedron. |
Color Fractions of Groups of Shapes Worksheet Color halves, thirds, quarters and fifths of groups of squares, triangles, circles, and ovals. |
Color Fractions of Groups of Shapes Worksheet #2 Color halves, thirds, quarters and fifths of groups of squares, triangles, circles, and ovals. |
Venn Diagram Printout #1 On this printout, the student classifies geometric figures by shape, size, and shading by placing them in Venn diagrams. Or go to the answers. |
Venn Diagram Printout #2 On this printout, the student classifies geometric figures by shape, size, and shading by placing them in Venn diagrams. Or go to the answers. |
Which One is Different? Shapes In each group of pictures, circle the picture that doesn't belong to that group of shapes. The groups are round shapes, triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, and hexagons. Or go to the answers. |
Match Each Regular Polyhedron to Its Name and Its Unfolded Form Draw lines between each Platonic solid (regular polyhedron), its name, and its unfolded form. Polyhedra: tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, icosahedron. Or go to the answers. |
Unfolding 3-D Shapes: Cube and Tetrahedron Nets Draw an unfolded cube and tetrahedron. Or go to the answers. |
Polyhedra: Fill-in-the-Blanks Fill in the name, number of faces, net, number of vertices, number of edges, and shape of the faces for five polyhedra (tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedron). Or go to the answers. |
Crafts:
TETRAHEDRON FROM A SMALL ENVELOPE This is an incredibly easy way to make a tetrahedron (a pyramid) from a small envelope. |
3-D HEXAFLEXAGON The hexaflexagon is a folded geometric figure that can be "flexed" to expose many sides. To make a 3-D hexaflexagon, print out the template, cut and fold carefully, then tape (or glue) into shape. You can then "flex" the 3-D hexaflexagon, exposing each of four six-sided faces, one at a time. |
TANGRAM PUZZLE A traditional Chinese puzzle to make out of paper. |
5-POINTED STAR Make a 5-pointed star the same way that was used for the first US flag. |
PAPER BOX Make a little paper box (cube). You can put a small gift in it if you like. |
PAPER PYRAMID Make a pyramid and decorate it, using paper, scissors, and crayons. |
POLYHEDRA Make regular polyhedra from paper. |
3-D Star Make a great star decoration. |
