Make a paper mosaic by glueing colorful hole-punch circles to paper. You can adapt this craft to make a beautiful card for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, a Birthday, or other special occasions when a homemade card is the best.
- Hole punch
- White paper for the base (or try another color)
- Pencil
- Glue stick (preferably one with a colorant that lets you see where the glue has been applied)
- Construction paper (or other colorful paper, like magazine pages, old gift wrap ...)
- Optional – An old egg carton (for organizing the circles as you work)
Instructions
Decide on a design you want to create. Remember that the final picture will be made using tiny circles. Some simple choices are a: caterpillar, worm, snake, flower, butterfly, tree, rainbow, or ice cream cone. Have the children come up with their own ideas.
Using a pencil, draw a simple sketch of the design on paper.
Punch a lot of holes in colorful paper.
An old egg carton is useful for organizing the circles as you work.
Using a glue stick, cover your pencil sketch with glue.
One at a time, place a colorful paper circle on the glue. After you have put the paper on the design, you can slide it slightly to put it exactly in place.
Moistening your fingertip a tiny bit helps pick up the paper.
Continue placing the circles until your picture is done. Then let the glue dry.
