- Construction paper, A Brown paper grocery bag or Card stock
- A paper plate
- Red or pink tempera paint
- A sponge
- Scissors or pinking shears
- Pen or crayons
- Old newspapers (to protect the table)
- Optional – Glitter
Instructions
If you want a traditional, folded card, cut a piece of paper into thirds. You will later fold each piece of paper in half, creating 3 cards.
If you want a simple card (the non-folded type that is often handed out by students in schools as Valentines), fold and then cut a piece of paper into quarters or sixths. This will give you 4 (or 6) cards.
Cut a sponge into a heart shape. Make sure that the heart shape will fit on your card.
Put some old newspapers on the table to protect it. Pour a small amount of red or pink paint onto a paper plate.
Dip the heart-shaped sponge into the paint, gently scrape off any excess paint (use the side of the paper plate), then carefully stamp a card. If you want a glittery heart, sprinkle some glitter on the wet paint.
Let the paint dry. Then write a Valentine message on each card.
You now have adorable Valentine’s Day cards for your friends.
